Finly Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 31, 2026

1. Overview

Finly is a personal finance tracking app. Your financial data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to any server, with one exception: when you use AI features, a summary of your transactions is sent to generate insights.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any data. Finly does not have user accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not transmit your personal or financial information to any server.

All transactions, categories, and tags you create are stored in a local database on your device only.

3. AI Features

When you use AI-powered features (Monthly Insights or Finance Chat), a summarised version of your transaction data — including totals, category breakdowns, and recent transactions — is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate a response. This data:

  • Contains no personally identifiable information
  • Is not stored or used to train AI models (per Anthropic’s API terms)
  • Is only sent when you explicitly trigger an AI feature

Anthropic’s privacy policy applies to data processed through their API: anthropic.com/privacy

4. Third-Party Services

Finly uses the following third-party services:

  • Anthropic Claude API — for AI-powered financial insights and chat
  • Firebase Cloud Functions — to securely proxy requests to the Anthropic API (no data is stored)

5. Data Storage & Security

All your financial data is stored in a SQLite database on your device. It is subject to your device’s own security (screen lock, encryption). Finly has no access to this data remotely.

If you delete the app, all your data is permanently deleted.

6. Children’s Privacy

Finly is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be included in the app update and reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
